There are 99 species and subspecies of Lemurs know today, and they are all natives of Madagascar. The range in size from the tiny one ounce Madame Berthe’s Mouse Lemur to the 21 pound Indri Lemur.

Contrary to popular belief, I do not have a Lemur as a pet. Although if my wife sees this video, that could change.

What happens when two Chinese college students start lip-syncing to Euro Pop? They become stars of course!

The pair, Wei Wei and Huang Yixin, were students at Guangzhou Arts Institute when they started recording videos where they lip-synced to songs by the Backstreet Boys and other pop musicians five years ago. Known as the Back Dorm Boys, they gained internet fame, as well as stardom in China.

As a short film filmmaker myself, I can attest that good short films are really difficult to make. Which is why I find this piece to be so compelling. It’s every bit as beautiful as anything created in Hollywood.

Arev Manoukian, the director/editor of Nuit Blanche, won the$100,000 grand prize of the LG Life’s Good FilmFest a year ago. Manoukian says the video had a $10,000 budget.

There’s also a Making of Nuit Blanche video that shows how the project was made. There are thirteen people listed in the credits and they spent six months shooting the video and creating the effects. Wait until you see just how much of the short is CGI!

300px-Spammed-mail-folderPorfirio Kaneholani. Mrs. Elizabeth Brown. Lilia Clarke. Dr. Mansur Muhtar. Mr. John Goodman from South Africa. Francis Cotopa, twice. These are the lovely people who today are offering to share massive amounts of money with me. I don’t even know them, but they’re kind enough to have singled me out of the millions of internet users in the world.

Soon I will be rich!

Tanya Waneta wanted to offer me prescription pain-killers at a cut-rate price. Pat Cowan is promising to give me a Submariner SS watch. Jewell Holt, Pat McCann, Grant Barrron, Russ Cram and Tim Randolph all have fantastic investment opportunities to share with me.

I’m so fortunate!

If I spent all day, every day, I couldn’t begin to respond to these wonderful offers to make me happy, wealthy and really sexy.

If I respond to even one of these, I’ll probably lose everything I have in the bank.

According to a Microsoft report last year, 97% of all emails sent are spam. Spam emails clog the internet. They cost the world billions of dollars in lost productivity alone. Criminals love spam because email is virtually free, and out of the thousands of emails they send out, it only takes one or two suckers to make a decent profit.

Yes! You may find this absurd, but internet scammers and internet spammers exist only because some people actually do respond to them. Do you?

Now here’s an internet toy that’s going to get a workout from me. There’s not much too it, just seven different looping sound effects and volume sliders for each of them. Normally, you’d pay a wad of cash for plastic box stuffed with circuit boards to get these sounds. But SoundSleeping.com offers this little gem for free.

Listening to it as I write this, I’ve become peaceful, calm, serene and downright sleepy. It’s perfect for filtering out the noise of your coworkers when you’re trying to sleep under your desk or your neighbor’s Pictionary game night.

breadThere is NOTHING I love in this world more than freshly baked bread. I mean the real stuff, not the kind that you pour into a machine and pop out a couple of hours later. Bread Machine bread is fit for machines, in my opinion. Baking the real stuff is a lot of work, but worth the effort.

Several times, I’ve made honest-to-goodness French baguette, a process that takes a couple of days and a lot of effort. My baguette didn’t really look like baguette, but WOW! They tasted fantastic!

Of course, I never seem to have the time any more, so I have to rely on other means to get delicious, fresh bread. TheKitchn.com has become one of my favorite destinations on the internet, simply because of articles like this one on making bread that doesn’t need to be fussed over and kneaded for hours on end.

This recipe first appeared in the New York Times in 2006. I’ve tried it several times, and let me assure you, the results will delight you!

meunderdeskI need a nap. Please don’t tell my boss, but I’m tempted to crawl right under my desk and zonk out for an hour or so. It won’t be very comfortable, what with all the electrical cables and cold french fries. But I’m a dedicated napper, and I know it’ll do me some good.

And best of all, I now have scientific research to back me up. At this year’s meeting of the American Association of the Advancement of Science, researchers from UC Berkeley showed that a 90 minute nap around noon can help increase our ability to learn for the rest of the day.

And for those of you struggling to get a decent nap, well, I’ve got some great news too! Lifehacker has this guide for getting a great power nap.

Our culture’s emphasis on beauty is a driving force behind the billion dollar cosmetics industry. Television, movies and magazines extol an image that’s hard to achieve. And one that may be just as hard on your health.

guideNational Geographic’s TheGreenGuide.com site has a fascinating, interactive graphic that unveils the truth about the chemicals used in cosmetics and beauty products.

You’ll be surprised by what makes up the makeup women rely on every day. Do you really want to put hydroquinone, phenylendediamine, diethanolamine or coal tar on your face? Especially if you don’t know what they are?

I love a clean house. I hate cleaning house. Until the day comes that I win the lottery and can afford a maid, I’m stuck with cleaning.

broomMy problem is that I’m too scatter-brained to pick one thing and work on it until it’s done. I’ll start in the bedroom, and wind up in the kitchen via the den, having finished none of them. I created a system which I call the Multi-Room Defocused Room Cleaning Alert System, or MRDR-CAS. Using this system, I turn on the lights in all the rooms I’m going to clean. When I actually do finish a particular room, I turn out the light in it. And I know I don’t have to go back into that room!

RealSimple.Com, which is always trying to show up my advice with better advice of their own has posted great advice for speed cleaning your bathroom.

Now, excuse me, I’ve got to get to work cleaning up. My mother is coming for dinner, and I can hear her snarky comments already!

bread2Listen up! Cooking is like art: the goal is to impress people and win the hearts of the ladies. Or the men, if that’s your goal. My philosophy is that sometimes a little effort can go a really long way.

Like, for example, if you try out this no-knead bread recipe. It’s been floating around the internet since 2006 when it was first published by the New York Times. There are a lot of steps in the recipe, but it is far less work than normal bread making.

And the results? OMG, fantastic. If you love the aroma, taste and feel of warm, freshly baked bread, you simply have to try this out.
