• A Miniature Masterpiece

I’m going to be bold this morning and declare this one of the coolest video’s I’ve ever seen.  It’s titled “The Sandpit” and is described as a Day in the Life of New York City in miniature.   Take a few minutes and watch this thing.  Pop it out fullscreen.  You’re going to be amazed.

What you are seeing is not a series of tiny miniature sets.  It is New York City, captured with a digital still camera over the course of five days and two nights last August. Creator Sam O’Hare put the entire piece together from over 35,000 still images captured on a Nikon D3, and effects were applied in post-production to produce the final effect.  The music was created by Human, created for and inspired by the film.
